Pizza is one of those foods that has a lot of potential. It’s just so darn easy to play around with to create something new. So, naturally, we wanted to go with something that’s a little Southern. This Honey Barbecue Chicken pizza recipe is simple to make. It’s a touch sweet, and makes for a smoky and delicious alternative to its tomato sauce based cousin!Prep time: 15 min, cook time: 30 min, ready in: 45 minINGREDIENTS3 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and cubed1 cup Holy Chipotle BBQ Sauce1 tablespoon honey1 teaspoon molasses⅓ cup brown sugar½ bunch fresh cilantro, chopped1 (12 inch) pre-baked pizza crust½ cup smoked Gouda cheese, shredded½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded1 cup thinly sliced red onion1 – 1½ cup crispy bacon bits (or 4-5 long strips of bacon, crumbled)Directions1: First, cook bacon until semi-soft. Be sure not to overcook or it will end up burned in the oven. Set aside.2: Preheat oven to 425˚ F (220 ˚ C). In a saucepan over medium high heat, combine chicken, barbeque sauce, honey, molasses, brown sugar and cilantro. Bring to a boil.2: Spread chicken mixture evenly over pizza crust. Then top with cheese, onion, and bacon. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted.
